Over the weekend I got to see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (twice).

Here's what I thought:

If you have read the first book, and enjoyed it, you need to see this movie.

If you have read the first book, and did not enjoy it, what the hell is wrong with you?? (also, you will probably not care for the movie, since it shares the same sense of humor as the book)

If you have not read the first book, you need to, get yourself to a library/bookstore as soon as possible and get yourself a copy, read it then refer to whichever of the first two comments apply to you.

As for me, I loved the movie, one of the funniest things I have seen in a while. Definately something I will add to my DVD collection whenever it comes out.

Had an awful day at work today.

First off the day was just dragged on and on, even the first 10 minutes that I was at work (before I had even clocked in) seemed like an eternity. It was one of those days that every minute you're on the clock seems to go by at the speed of a sloth but the minute you clock out for lunch the time speeds up by about 400%.

I had to have one kid two hours in a row during the morning shift. Now on a normal basis I wouldn't have minded as this kid is pretty good (as far as our kids go anyways), but of course today the fire alarm had to go off in the middle of the first hour. The fire alarm, like most fire alarms, is LOUD. Of course this sends all the kids into a complete and utter frenzy. The kid I was teaching however, is extremely fragile emotion-wise and had a major meltdown the minute the fire alarm went off. He bolted for the doorway in complete hysterics, and I had to chase after him (in heels no less!). It took a good 10 minutes just to get him to go back inside.

Then there was the afternoon.

One kid tried to claw my eyes out. Literally.

Then I had two "office" hours, which is more code for "sit around and try not to fall asleep".

Which were directly followed by the one student who thinks she can boss her teachers around. She hates me because I refuse to follow her commands and let her do whatever she wants. It's like I told the other teachers, I don't get paid nearly enough to take orders from a 10 year old. Today she got really mad and threw the bottle of hand sanitizer against the wall. It got all over the table, my papers, and me (all up and down my arm, on my shirt, in my eye and in my hair).

*shakes head*

It always amazes me though that at the end of the day, no matter how bad it gets I come home and I can still say to myself "I love my job" and actually mean it...

...but I could still use a hug (or a massage...or maybe just some sleep *collapses*)

I was asked by a friend to start updating my livejournal again. I promised that it would be extremely boring, but they insisted, so here it is in all it's glory, an update from moi.

I'm still working as a teacher, which many of you alredy know since we converse in real life. I'm being sent to Consultant's training in about 2 weeks which means another promotion will be looming just over the horizon. I'm looking forward to the trip. It's in Washington DC, which I have never been to before so it should be fun. Hopefully I don't end up stuck in a conference room for hours and hours on end.

Personally things are going well, I get out to Cali whenever I can to see Chris. We went on a cruise to Mexico back in March which was a blast. I'll get to see him again in about a month.

When I'm not traveling I'm usually just at home relaxing. I'm currently in the middle of reading two seperate books because I can never seen to have a long enough attention span to read any one book for a great length of time. Perhaps I have some form of adult ADD...that only applies to books. Who knows lol. Still a big fan of watching movies when I can. Just recently I had to buy yet another tower for my ever expanding DVD collection.

Well I believe that is it for now. Hope everyone is well.

gacked from [info]nirix5

Step 1: Get your playlist together, put it on random, and play!
Step 2: Pick your favorite lines from the first 15 songs that play!
Step 3: Post a comment and let everyone you know your guess what song the lines come from!
Step 4: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly!
P.S.: no cheating and pasting the lyrics into a search engine :P

(Some of these will be really, really easy lol)

1)"You're here, there's nothing I fear, And I know that my heart will go on"

2)"My attraction to tradition, My vintage disposition, My sincere architecture, And I want to cook him dinner"

3)"Drawing circles in your concrete, I will know your every move"

4)"Raise your hats and your glasses too, We will dance the whole Night through, We're going back to a time we knew"

5)"The chemicals displaced, There is no lonlier place, Than lying in this bed"

6)"Let the world be the world, Let the girl be the girl, Let her beauty move ya, Let her dance be your guide"

7)"And I won’t wake up alone anymore, Still believing you’ll walk through my door, You’ll reach for me and I’ll know it’s for sure"

8)"Do you have the time, to listen to me whine, About nothing and everything, all at once"

9)"How would you like to fly , That's how my queen should ride, But you still deserve the crown, Why hasn't it been found"

10)"You got those lemon drop martini eyes, And if my karma suits youd cross the line into another place and time"

11)"as darkness quickly steals the light, that shined within her eyes, she slowly swallows all her fear, and soothes her mind with lies"

12)"I can't have no chains around me, baby can't you see, I could be anything you dream of, but I gotta feel free"

13)"Lost, in a snow filled sky, we’ll make it alright, to come undone, Now we’ll try to stay blind, to the hope and fear outside,
Hey child, stay wilder than the wind - And blow me in to cry."

14)"on your knees, i'll show you that, desire, colours all you see, your desire, desire, is everything"

15)"Suppose I said, Colors change for no good reason, And words will go, From poetry to prose"

Now copy and paste into your own journal :-)

Yeah...so...Vegas...WOW.

I'm really trying to still get it all straight in my head. It's like the past 5 days have been so much fun it was unreal. I'll try and give the recap as best as possible though.

Got in on Wednesday and checked into the Paris. Awesome hotel, it's mini-Paris it really is. The rooms were nice and I really liked having a seperate shower/soaking tub. That night we met up with two bands that Ryan knows and we hung out with them for the rest of the night. Great guys, lots of fun. There was lots of drinking compliments of Fat Tuesdays at the Aladdin. Good times all around, especially for Ryan, the birthday girl. :-)

The next morning the bands left early and Ryan and I went wandering, I think we ended up walking up and down the strip at least 3 or 4 times, something around there. We checked out all the cool hotels, took plenty of pics, etc. Then that night we ended up getting some more drinks from Fat Tuesdays and bringing them back up to the room before we crashed.

Friday, oh man, lol, possibly one of the most fun days. There was more wandering and more walking and I think this might have been the day we played blackjack (although it's entirely possible it was thursday). However that night we went and saw....wait for it...Thunder from Down Under. Hahahahaha. It was so great. Afterwards we hung out with Chris and Preston for a bit, drank some more, and went to Risque, the "ultra-lounge" that was in our hotel. Back to the room to sleep and get up early for our flights the next morning.

Or so we thought.

We get to the airport to find out that all flights going to Atlanta had been cancelled due to the winter storm from hell. After standing in line for about an hour we get up to the counter to have our flights rescheduled. Ryan is able to get out at 10pm that night with a red-eye flight, I however, have to stay until monday. Good thing Chris and Preston were staying until Sunday and were kind enough to let me crash with them for at least Saturday night. So back to the MGM we go. Ryan and I meet up with Chris and Preston to stash our luggage in their rooms and then it's off for more wandering. On the way back to the hotel room I decide to check at the ticket counter at the MGM to see if they have any tickets left for that night's performance of KA by Cirque du Soleil. To my suprise there are tons of tickets left and I snag 2 for the late show at 10:30pm. Back up to the room where we all hang out until it's time for Ryan to go to the airport *tear*. We get her a cab and send her on her way. Preston goes back up to the room and Chris and I head to the food court to get some food and just talk for a while. It was really nice to be able to talk just the two of us for a bit. Back up to the room with enough time for changing and going back downstairs to the theater for the show. Let me tell you, I am a huge fan of Cirque Du Soleil and KA just blew me away. It is by far my favortie production that I have seen so far, although I would love to see O again under better circumstances, maybe then my opinion would change, but either way KA is just absolutely amazing. If you don't believe me you can ask Chris, I think his jaw was on the floor for most of the show ;-).

On Sunday we get up and check out of the hotel room, put our luggage in storage for a while and did more wandering, of course. I got my own room at the MGM so I would have a place to stay that night since Chris and Preston were leaving that day. There was a whole bunch of wandering, souvenir shopping, etc, just to kill time until later when we went downtown to have dinner with Preston's family. I got to see old Las Vegas and wander the cheap souvenir shops. I even got to see the light show. Then they dropped me off and I had to say goodbye to everyone since they needed to drive back to Cali :-(.

Then this morning I got up way to early and flew back here.

Good times, good times all around.

Feels oddly like 2004 hehe.
Had a great New Year's Eve, first at Scott's part for a bit then going the the Barenaked Ladies concert.
I have never seen so much confetti in my life. Seriously.
I must say the Ladies are awesome live, they sound just like their records, and they do improtu stuff as well, like making up songs on the spot. Fun times all around.
I have my New Year's resolutions but I refuse to commit them to paper (or text, as the case might be) since I never keep them anyways, and this way if I don't keep them no one can hold me accountable. Ha! Take that New Year's resolutions!
I've been debating cutting my hair short again. Right now it's to my shoulder blades, if I do get it cut I'll cut it to a little below my chin. Actually it would be like Julia Stiles' hair in my icon, which is new BTW.
You want to know what I think is the best part about it being a brand new year? I get to start using my new calendar and datebook-thing. Yep, my new datebook-thing is the most exciting thing of the new year to me. I think that might be a little sad.
Second most exciting thing? New episode of Lost on Wednesday. *insert fangirlish squee here*
Three and a half more weeks till Vegas!! So close but yet, so far.

Just wanted to think what everyone thought of this tattoo design...I want to get it on both sides of the evenstar that's on my lower back. Like it is in the pic on the right side, then flipped to be on the left side, if that makes sense. (please excuse the crappy pic quality, and the smudge on the bottom, that needs to be erased)

Cooked Thanksgiving dinner today. It didn't turn out too bad, it was actually kinda good. I did, however, find out that I'm not as efficient a cook as I thought I was. In other words if the recipie says it takes 15 minutes to prepare, sure enough it will take me close to 30 min. Ah well, as long as I know that I guess it's a small problem that I can just work around.

I have a strange love/hate relationship with the treadmill.

It feels like Saturday.

It's going to be goregeous out tomorrow, somewhere around 70 for the high, if it even gets to that, sounds like the perfect day to go shopping to me. What does everyone want for Christmas?

So here I am, updating from work of all places. I have an office hour so they said that since there were no "office" type tasks for me to do that I could just surf the internet. Works for me.

So I'm gonna try something new with this journal thing. Everyday I will post random thoughts/statements/questions that were a part of that day. Should work, I think. at the very least it'll get me to post more often. I think the idea is that if I can be more random and not have to come up with actual full, nicely typed entries that I'll be more prone to write, or ramble, as the case might be.

So here goes, the highlights from the last time I posted till now, as best I can remember them.

- I get the speed bumps, heck I even get speed humps sort of, but I cannot seem to wrap my mind around the concept of "speed tables".

- The best name for the color of the Eiffel Tower would be gunmetal grey. Not black as I had thought for some reason (even though I know full well that the Eiffel Tower is not black)

- I think the Mini-Eiffel in Las Vegas is black, maybe that's where I got that from

- Eating healthy is a pain in the butt

- Is it really that hard to find BONELESS turkey breasts?

- "The Five People you meet in Heaven" is a really good book.

- Somehow Dominic msomethingsomething (can spell his last name to save my life) has become my new thing. Too bad for Orlando. Hrmm.

- Because of new found thing, I've become strangely addicted to the show Lost, although I've only seen 1 episode so far and I am very confused.

- Uhh...that's it.

Today I got on a kick looking at pics of ridiculously goregeous men, so I decided to pay tribute to them by doing my own little picspam. However, I began to think that it would hardly be fair to pay tribute to just the men, when there are plenty of good looking women out there too. So here it is, my picspam tribute to the beautiful people (at least the ones I think are the beautiful people) for your drooling pleasure...
